Controversial, but I think this music video is not just “regurgitating the past.” Both Zara and PinkPantheress have used past cultural aesthetic in a way that’s not just for reference’s sake. And in melding those two aesthetics together, you make something new.
I think the Stateside + Zara Larsson MV really shows that sometimes all some songs need is a good MV to accompany it to become hits… They were GENIUSES for releasing this now
