Partnerships like this are key to providing practical knowledge that allows them to respond appropriately on site. Sharing this knowledge ultimately helps normalise the presence of beavers in the British landscape and fosters coexistence.

Recognising the challenge, our team was recently invited by @ssencommunity to work with its tree-cutting teams to help them better understand beaver browsing, how they can protect trees near their network from foraging, and their own responsibilities regarding beavers' wellbeing.

Beaver Browsing Near Infrastructure. Beavers fell trees for food and construction, creating habitats that benefit a wide range of wildlife. However, tree felling can also be undesirable and hazardous, particularly near infrastructure such as overhead electricity lines.

If we want to fully realise the biodiversity benefits and climate resilience beavers can bring, we must continue to actively expand the species into new areas. Creating a network of connected populations that can thrive, adapt, and contribute to their long-term recovery.

However, natural expansion alone is not enough to ensure healthy, connected populations across Britain. Physical barriers such as hydroelectric dams can block movement, and the small, isolated nature of many British populations limits genetic exchange and resilience.
