Feels like if USC wins today: -And BYU wins, USC will replace BYU. -And BYU loses, Utah will bump up and USC will come in right behind them. Because. Utah gets more committee respect than BYU because of the last decade in the P12.

Here’s how the rankings are manipulated with teams like Tennessee and Missouri. Alabama is #10 BYU is #11 Miami is #13 “Alabama has to stay ranked high because of their FOUR ranked wins!” Half of Alabama’s ranked wins are Tennessee and Missouri. Those two teams are a combined

Last year I wrote about how preseason rankings create positive and negative feedback loops that ruin the final playoff rankings. It has happened again. It favors #9 Notre Dame, who came in ranked #6 Compare that with #11 BYU, who came in UNRANKED. BYU finished last season
I was going to try and write a long thread today, thoughtfully outlining why the committee’s bias towards Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Penn state is a positive feedback loop that keeps them all highly ranked, while SMU & BYU have are in a committee induced negative feedback loop

BYU came into the season unranked again and will finish as a first team out of the playoff again, unless they win the Big 12. Preseason rankings continue to ruin everything. If byu even came into the season ranked at all, they’d be top 7 right now.

So to get in, BYU needs someone to lose or needs to beat Tech in the title game. Best chances are USC beating Oregon or Missouri beating Oklahoma. Not great. Win out.
