So to support the communities in which we operate, we built water filtration plants outside our factory walls. Each one produces 500 litres of safe drinking water per hour – enough to supply 5,000 people a day. #water #environment #cleanwaterforall

Pakistan is one of the most water stressed countries in the world – with warnings that it could reach absolute water scarcity by 2025. Meanwhile what water there is, is not always safe. 40% of all deaths in Pakistan are caused by waterborne diseases.

We have two factories at opposite sides of Lahore, one in Maraka (in the south) the other in Batapur (in the north). The communities around the factories faced an acute water shortage. What little water there was available was barely drinkable.

Today is #WorldEnvironmentDay and we wanted to share this great story from @BataHomePK

Bata’s aim is to re-process this waste into the raw materials to create brand new Bata PVC gumboots and help #savetheplanet. When they are worn out, we collect them, granulate them and turn them back into new gumboots.

#Reuse #Recycle #Remake The PVC Recycle program is an initiative of the Bata Shoe Company of Australia to reduce the amount of worn PVC gumboots being disposed of into landfill.
