Fire is getting close to my hometown (Conception Bay South) in Newfoundland. Some family had to evacuated from their homes. This fire below is further along the bay. Praying it is put out before any majour damage.
Looks like another Fire in Holyrood area. View from TCH. Water bomber was seen responding. Can see fire through the smoke. Stay safe everyone! #nltraffic

My first questioning of this myopic approach was in my Civil Rights class with law professor Ian Hunter who was no fan of the Charter. Given the way such core freedoms have been gutted by the SCC since the Charter I am of the same mind as yourself. There is an unhealthy opinion.
The Charter is part of our law, but not the only part. In one of my favourite academic articles (1985), David Mossop argues that the Charter has contributed to a narrowing of the legal imagination, a forgetfulness of the ancient writs and remedies of the common law.

If there is ever a modern man I admire it is @ThomasSowell - He turned 95 on June 30, 2025! His words of wisdom will provide a guide post for generations to come - that is if this current generation will have the wit and willingness to heed his wisdom and allow our society to.

Great discussion on the Sean Feucht situation in Canada and the differences between Canadian and US law on free speech. @RelLibertyTV.

This is but emblematic of the problem with the concentration of power in one individual in the Canadian system of governance. Remember, there is not one iota in our Canadian constitution that defines the office of, the powers of, the jurisdiction of, the office of prime minister.
.@MarkJCarney recognition of Palestine statehood came with Parliament in recess. MPs rejected an identical @NDP motion in 2024: "I am speaking for Canada now," said Carney. #cdnpoli

This is what happens when judges make law. .
Toronto cyclists have Charter-protected rights, preventing the province from removing certain bike lanes in the city. But unvaccinated Canadians don’t have such rights to prevent the government & proxies from stripping folks of jobs & medical treatment. Absolute absurdity.

When banks debank a customer it is an attack on the customer's ability to carry on life. Today we are stuck with "banking" - everything we do is tied to banking. It is a serious personal attack. Especially when there is nothing one can do effectively to fight back unless you have.
"What happened to the Canada I grew up in?" . Freedom Convoy lawyer @echipiuk tells #RealTalkRJ about being #debanked by RBC. Thoughts? . 📺 FULL: 🎧 FULL: #cdnpoli
