@balkissoon Blame & responsibly does not lay at the feet of the “system” or healthcare providers alone. And yes, there is a lot manipulation by addicts, do not sugarcoat this. Addicts are accountable for their choices.

@balkissoon @sasyecat I have been clean and sober for 27 years. I have known countless Maddies over the years-wonderful,gifted people with families who love them,but they don’t make it.There is no reason why I am alive and Maddie is dead, but I know her disease talked to her until the end.

@balkissoon attend recovery meetings ODAAT learn to stay sober & live. Sorry for her loss. I've experienced addiction 1st hand. Now I have a child. Learn to love sobriety more than the drug.

@balkissoon It feels like you might die if you try to get clean ( most of the time under right supervision, you won’t tho ) , it feels impossible, but if you stay strong and ask our father to help you and you help your self . You can detox in a week or two , and start working on the mind.

@balkissoon I’m not sure if it’s because I have a lot of compassion and empathy or because I’ve always wanted to be a counselor for individuals with substance use disorders or because we have the same birthday but this really hit me hard. Rest In Paradise Madelyn 🙏🏾 💙
