These paintings of Monoco made me believe that Verso was a good painter who loved painting, but he wasn’t interested in “Great Art” like his parents wanted him to be. Verso just wanted to paint the things that he loved and show how beautiful they were to him.

One of my favourite little efforts in E33 is that the oil paintings actually reflect light in the annoying way they do in real life. When you paint that reflection, and the oil sinking in as it dries, is such a struggle. It made me smile to see it represented in the game.

Act3 Verso does not lie. Instead Maelle starts to lie, as we can see. There was literally zero reason for Verso to lie in Act3. he was only lying in the game to get her mother out somehow.
when you’re replaying expedition 33 and see verso post act two, promising the expeditioners he’ll try to bring back all their lost loved ones

Imo it’s because they made a game that gives people a space to think about and talk about the messy nuances of death, dying, and grief (which we don’t have a lot of spaces to do that in) while making gameplay fun and characters deeply human and relatable 🥰

from a character flaw standpoint: Verso is so self-loathing & ashamed, that it wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t even mean for Gustave to die. He rolled with it, told himself that it was to his advantage, & later felt so bad that he took responsibility for a murder he didn’t do
