Totally incorrect. @airindia india always blocks a business class seat, separated by a curtain, for multi crew ops, in case the a/c is not equipped with a bunk.

Did any previous suicidal event involve such contradictory actions of the pilot?

It’s a report that raises more questions than answer some.personally I feel the suicide theory is a bit weird.why would one cut off the switch to suicide,3sec after t/o,on a 9 hour long flight, then put it back to run to attempt an relight, and thn call MAYDAY.

Hi @SteveNomadic.everyone is marching to a conclusion.and so are you. There r 2 sides to a coin.the problem is not the Indian guys defending the pilot or westerners defending Boeing, its a badly presented preliminary report by the AAIB.putting out cockpit conversations selectively.
Absolutely zero disrespect to the Indian Aviation professionals 🇮🇳 - most of which are top notch in every way - and who provide incredibly valuable commentary on here - but - what’s with the overlooking of obvious data and pushing of misinfo to suit the “mechanical” narrative

Mechanical Failure of the fuel control switch lock.Problem was found in fuel control switches of same design on other Boeing model aircrafts.Boeing had issued the advisory.FAA didn’t find reason enough to issue an AD.Air india didn’t inspect the switches.#AI171

The air india ceo should be attending each and every crew members’ funeral.

I recall our instructor’s words of wisdom in the Akademi, ‘take offs are optional, landings are not’.
A day after the Air India crash of Ahmedabad- London flight, the pilot in command of Air India’s Delhi-Copenhagen flight suffered a panic attack and returned the plane from the runway. This was also a Boeing 787 plane.

As for ur 2nd ‘speculation’ ,low speeds and less t/o thrust would result in a tail strike well before the a/c was airborne.Calling oneself a pilot with 15000 hours of experience but with zero aerodynamic knowledge does not give u the ground to ‘speculate’ and point to human error

For point 1, the take off in an incorrect flap setting is impossible on a 787. It’s prevented by a warning in the cockpit called the Take off configuration warning accompanied by a siren, as soon as the 787 starts its t/o roll.

The race to post it first on Social media leads to misleading information. The photo posted of the person with the post is not the captain of #AI171.

Totally false info. With that much fuel one can fly from india to the east coast of the US. To the UK from Amd/BOM takes a maximum of 50 tonnes of fuel. Divide it by the SG (.80 usually) and u would get around 62500 litres.
The plane had 125,000 liters of fuel which caused a huge, uncontrollable fire for a long time. This was the biggest reason for the casualties.. Total 242 including crew members were onboard in which only 1 survived.. https://t.co/nXcqJv6WCU

Securing the crash site to protect evidence in order to investigate the cause of the accident is of prime importance. In the Videos emerging post the crash, this important point seems to have been missed by the teams on ground.
Tragic news has emerged today with the crash of Air India flight AI 171 near Ahmedabad. In the aftermath of any air crash in India, it’s important to understand what happens next. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) takes charge of the investigation. They operate

How can there be so many people near the crash site. The area has to be cordoned off to protect any evidence. By the looks of it, the media is also there and reporting from the crash site.
The #AirIndia flight, which departed from #Ahmedabad at 13:38 hrs, was carrying 242 passengers and crew members on board the Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Of these, 169 are Indian nationals, 53 are British nationals, 1 Canadian national and 7 Portuguese nationals. 📹 Vijay Soneji

Air india flights to Europe with flight time exceeding 10 hours, going with just 2 flights. DGCA gives blanket permissions for all FDTL exceedances. Flight safety at serious risk in the name of patriotism.
