So many ideas for how to use AI in sim after #SimExpo2025 but it’s important to also recognize limitations. Here are some great ones specific to Geriatric Education. I especially appreciate the last bullet point knowing that I won’t be replaced as a PhD educator/researcher.

A great start to #SimExpo2025 thinking about how to meaningfully integrate AI into simulation-based education. Lots of great ideas for each step of the simulation process. A plea to have more research about AI and sim to help move the field forward.

Listening to Dr. Kwan talking about how to leverage AI for automating feedback. Very interesting future directions including how it could be applied to other specialities or other reports such as progress notes. #ICRE2025

A great talk by Dr. Karl Vantomme on a resident driven collaborative learning experience involving Dr. Josh Lakoff and team. A great model for fostering a sense of collegiality and increasing understanding of involvement from multiple specialties for diabetes management.

Another great presentation by Dr. Ben Kwan on whether differences were identified between AI and human generated feedback. Turns out human raters are superior to GPT 3.5 for generating feedback that is context-specific, clinically relevant, and personalized.

Great start to the day with my favourite part of ICRE, Sim Trek! Loving the focus on using simulation for faculty development purposes specifically how best to coach a learner through disclosing a medical complication. Great tensions between patient care and teaching. #ICRE2025

Loving such a passionate start to #icre2025 with the opening plenary focusing on the prevalence of misinformation and discussion of how best to “nudge” people towards the evidence.

Simulation faces the ideological struggle of standardisation and neoliberalism - yet learning should be more liberal and learner centred. Remember - we are all on DIFFERENT learning tracjectories Always aim to ‘Tailor sim’ for learners and ‘not one size fits all’ #SimLikeaJedi

Loving this workshop by the CAMH sim team where they are sharing their expertise related to meaningful co-creation of scenarios with lived experience advisors. Many of these hopes and fears resonate with me. Cannot wait to bring tips and strategies back to QHS.
