I sometimes feel the Tekken community devotes less energy to active problem solving and lab work than they do discussing character balance and tiers. No game has perfect balance, but IMO many people would find clear answers to things they struggle against with a learning mindset.

Michigan Masters 2018 for Tekken wasn't the biggest tournament. It wasn't the best I ever played. But, it was the day I realized how much I loved the FGC, and competing in a game I had only just poured years into alone in my room until then.

Fahkumram is overrated tbh: All his lows are risky and most of his strings are mid. The only way he can hit you is if you play into him and overextend.
All you gotta do is just block and don't press anything.

As much as I hate to admit it, Tekken 7 in its current state actually demonstrates a key benefit to having smaller roster sizes in fighting games.
Throughout the game’s life there have been characters I feel I fight twice a year despite playing it consistently for a half-decade.

…I have *never* been more amazed at the depth and complexity of Tekken. His gameplay was virtually flawless. My jaw is still dropped.

for ~3000 hours and just now realized that ragequitters will do a Rage Art at the end of the last round *just* to give themselves enough time to exit the game before you hit them to end the match.

During my Tekken training I compiled a list of every move I don’t use with my main characters, studied methods I could use them, then tested my theories in-game.
If someone helping you with the game tells you your char has a ton of “useless” moves, IMO seek advice elsewhere. 😊

GGs. Made some sloppy mistakes but I did feel comfortable in my character picks and approach throughout. Gonna need to learn how to be still during end-round situations instead of overextending. I’ll get there.

Great for Geese players that sloppily place b+3 because of the godly follow-up. Mid size characters can SWR this as well, but it's quite a bit easier to deal with this using small characters like Chloe. It also works with just a simple SSR; No sidewalk required. ❤️

I have said this before and I will say it again:
TEKKEN 4 is easily the best game in the series… Until you actually start playing it.
I really l hope T8 captures part of the serious, ambient tone set by T4. Production quality in fighting games has rarely been better.

I’ve seen the entirely false “every female Tekken player only plays Xiaoyu” comment a lot and —in contrast — also seen the generalization that male players’ sole reasoning for picking female chars is from them being intrinsically horny on main. Males playing male chars tho = 🤷🏾♂️

I have a consistency problem in Tekken, which is nothing new for me personally.
Some days I feel on like a world-class player, and others as dull as a rusty knife. It’s an interesting conundrum indeed. 😆

My overall thoughts on Tekken 8:
-Music direction is similar to T7 but sounds much more like what that game should have, lol.
-Less KNDs and CH stuns coupled with buffed sidestep is a perfect mix of new and familiar.
-Heat Dash is VERY satisfying. Heat Smash, not quite as much

I feel it's important to reflect on positive things when chasing your goals, so I thought about my ICFC season! Of the 5 weeks I entered:
- (2) Top 4 finishes
- (1) Top 8
- (1) Top 16
- 12th in overall standings
Learning not to be as hard on myself has been so beneficial. 😊

There’s no need to play in a way to preserve your rank: It defeats the purpose of having it. I’ve been demoted 3 times already after running DMs, and will continue to run DMs against players I lose to, because I just want to play.
