The flavor of the year at ETHDenver is chains. There’s so many L1s and L2s that are optimizing either privacy, security or ease of use. Also looking at the gas fees collected, chains are such a profitable business but unfortunate they dilute user experience.

I’m still excited about the types of services and products built on crypto but this trade off between UX and security will always exist. There are certainly many tactical optimizations we can make to ease the friction of maintaining secure assets.

Especially in a world of software where we want to move fast and break things, moving fast in crypto can mean the loss of millions of $$. This idea of autonomy and self governance without oversight sounds good on paper but in practice there are too many pitfalls at least atm
