Very happy to share our new paper, now out in Nature Communications. We found an (adaptive?) Y chromosome introgression between ~6 million years divergent guenon species, which we think is pretty wild given Haldane’s rule etc. Check it out!.

More in the preprint, have a read! . With Emma Horton, Junior Amboko, Stacy-Anne Parke, John Hart, Anthony Tosi, @kguschan and Kate Detwiler. This is what the Y chromosome donor species, the blue monkey, looks like (although a female so no Y chrom in this picture…)

New preprint on a wild Y chromosome introgression between 6 my divergent primate species! .Guenons are a diverse group of African primates that hybridized a lot in the past. In this study, we looked at patterns of Y introgression….

Summary in this thread:.
We have a new preprint to share. Hint: guenon evolution is a mess!. In my PhD project with @kguschan, we study guenon genomics to learn about speciation processes. In part 1, we focus on ancient hybridization, and found a lot of it. From the top: 1/15.

Check out our recent @MolBioEvol paper! Includes lots of ancestral hybridization across deep branches, co-introgressing mitochondria and interacting nuclear loci, the (non)repeatability of introgression and more!.

. and turns out I needed one more. Not leaving you without some guenon pictures. These beauties are from @kguschan - there's a vervet, a Lhoest's and a red-tailed monkey - not sure which order they'll end up so take it as a challenge!

That's it for now, there's more in the preprint though, read it and let us know your thoughts! And if you're going to the #smbe meeting in Ferrara, stop by my poster and chat! Big thanks to everyone involved in this project, really exciting to be able to share this now.
