6. Charge up everything- spare batteries for phones, iPads, etc. - lots of towels in any upstairs bathrooms. Toilets can overflow if there is a flooding. - cushions & blankets in case you need to hunker down in hallways from the wind in case of a broken window. #CycloneAlfred

5. I got a bit blasé about in & regretted it. - any dog anxiety tablets or anything that gets them a bit snoozy, give it to them when needed. - hydralite tablets & water in case of loss of water. - make up some black coffee- perfect for iced coffee! #CycloneAlfred

4. - any windows fading the full brunt of the storm, the good, old-fashioned big X with strong masking tape. If a window breaks, (could be as easy as a small nail, coin, sharp rock) this should stop large shards of glass coming in & keep any smashed glass in one piece. #Cyclone

3. - close all curtains, blinds or shutters. Even sheet blinds are ok. We had sheer blinds in HK & they saved from bad injuries when a window blew in at 280km/hour #CycloneAlfred #Cyclone

Our website and group have been inundated with people like your godson. It seems the beauty of the American dream is over.
My godson lives in Michigan in the US. He is a US National that has held Australian PR since childhood. I raised him til he was 17. I’ve asked him to come home as it’s safer. He is. Speaking to DFAT this morning, so many are doing the same. Many are leaving a failed state.
