Delegation is the ultimate law of scaling any business. If a founder can't delegate, then he becomes a hindrance. That's why Athena finds you extremely elite EAs who take things off your plate so you can focus on what moves your company. https://t.co/t6xKNW61sM

Ritz-Carlton operated at Level 5 of delegation. They empowered the people closest to customers with real authority to solve problems. This is what makes a great business different from a normal one.

Schulze's core insight was beautifully simple. People closest to problems understand solutions best. Your front desk agent knows what upset the guest. Your housekeeper sees what's broken. So why would you want to make them ask permission to fix things?

The psychology behind this is fascinating. When employees feel trusted with significant authority, they become more careful, not more reckless. They make better decisions and trust becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Quite obvious when you think about it.

But here's what shocked Schulze most. Employees almost never spent the full $2,000. Average spending per incident was under $100. The real power wasn't the money at all. It was the trust.
