I’ve coached youth athletes on and off for 20 years, and have two kids of my own now. I’m also married to a pro athlete (and had coached plenty myself), so I think I have a unique insight here. I think that the point of youth sports is SO MISSED by most parents. 👇🏻

Roughly 7 years ago, some kid decided to shoot his shot and booked a flight to see me. I said “oh shit” (and scared the 💩 out of him) and here we are, happily married with two kids 🤣 not sure which of us was crazier, but glad you’re my kind of crazy

Tonight my first baby saw me come out of my room in a dress, and his whole face lit up like I was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, and he grabbed my hands and danced w me. Kids are so pure, man. And he’s taking after his daddy 100%.

I’ve seen parents have meltdowns about their children not doing intense skill work or becoming proficient in a technical sport (which takes adults YEARS) … at 3 years old. Or demand why kids aren’t doing advanced skill work…when they haven’t mastered basics.

Parents, if you WANT to be involved, ask your kids what their favorite part of the day was. Go outside and throw or kick a ball with them. Join a sport with them (like martial arts).
