You want world-leading?
It's our music.
It's our musicians.
It's our art.
Today has demonstrated this, yet again. Our politicians would do well to remember that.

For sure. And the people in charge of programming the music would do well to allow girls to be part of that too. Iโve been fighting this since a little girl.
Girls not singing in choirs.ย
In 1987, afterย three years of pestering, I was finally allowed to sing in my church choir becauseย girls don't sing in choirs.

@Oldboatie
Tories are trying to reverse that by cutting funding for the arts, attacking artists and making it a lot harder for musicians to earn a living by introducing financial barriers to touring in Europe.

Not only is this 'soft power', a term often bandied about when it suits then but easily dismissed too.
But it's also a major source of income for the country.
We lead the world in fewer areas than is often claimed. But The Arts is one of them.
Be less Dorries! Value them.

It was sad that Belfast had to get in the Priory Singers (brilliant as they) because they ended their choir in June. Sadly Llandaff too no longer has a professional choir. A surfeit of Bishops and a shortage of choirs? And a philistine Gvnmnt.

And our historians, journalists (press, TV & radio), camera-men, producers and other media specialists. World-leading. People with the kind of post-A-level educations and training that the govt is determined to undermine.

Definitely don't disagree, it was stunning, brava to all involved. What I had hoped for in 2022 however, was more representation in terms of the diversity of performers and composers.
