One of my acquaintances used to stay at a hostel in NCR for cllg and the kind of shit her roommates did (as she told me) were downright disgusting. The problem here is that it even affected her, where she felt like she was not living her life wholly and missing out on something.

Hindi Literature in ICSE (another legacy of the Raj) was absolutely wonderful, apart from a few SJW tales. There were chapters on Rajput bards, Mahabharata-Ramayana and even Vedic lore.
It would be the first time I ever read anything related to Indian power struggles in Hindi and was genuinely impressed by the story

Bengali is the most Sanskritised language in India. Marathi comes off otherwise because it has preserved some very ancient Sanskrit terms (like Ajoba/Goshti/Sopa) but also has a lot of words (like Yeda) from non-Aryan languages.
Marathi is literally just an easier and modern day form of Sanskrit.
