Why do you also refer to the planet-part when talking about AI? At present the CO2-emission of AI- and internet of things-applications combined is about two percent and it is growing. [For comparison: this 2% is roughly the same as the CO2-footprint of the airline industry.].

We urgently need ‘AI translators’, people who translate the needs and demands of engineers to managers, or the concerns of citizens to developers. We need people who can talk about all aspects of AI, people who can connect people, planet and profit. @miekedk via @ScienceMediaHub.

The platform’s source code is public, so users can contribute, fix bugs, and add new features. Some analysts believe Twitter should pursue a similar strategy.

“Decentralized” is Web3’s biggest buzzword and means that Mastodon lets users create their own versions of its server, rather than being bound to a central one. Servers are hosted by individuals or organizations who can set their own content moderation rules.

For me, some of the really interesting and important lessons that I've learned have been around the value of interdisciplinary conversations. As social scientists, we unpack what it means to be social on social media. But combining those kinds of. .

We also interviewed academics and business people working on Blockchain. There's a big knowledge gap, from the ideations to the complete applications. There seemed to be a big disconnect. Our work was to develop theoretical and practical bridges to better inform social actors.

Hello, I'm Pedro Jacobetty @pboxpj and I'm a sociologist working in ARTICONF. Blockchain technology is still in an embryonic phase, which made sociological research with possible future adopters something very challenging.

Good examples are supranational and intergovernmental organisations such as the European Union and the European Central Bank. The acknowledgement of a public, not-for-profit social media ecosystem not controlled by any particular state may be a fundamental right in today’s world.

States cooperate, sacrifice control and even fund independent transnational entities when this is strategic and beneficial for harmonious international relations. Such entities limit individual states and allow dealing with issues at a level beyond the singular nation-state.
