6/ I'm back because of the problems I actually care about; ownership, openness, credible neutrality, haven't been solved by any big tech lab. Shocking, I know.

5/ I stepped away because I was frustrated, amongst other personal issues. Too much speculation. Too little building. I went somewhere where people were just... shipping. Turns out web3 needed that phase to shake out the grifters. Fine. Worth it.

4/ Here's what I think nobody wants to say out loud: AI needs web3 more than web3 needs AI. Verifiable compute. Permissionless models. User-owned data. You can't build trustless AI on AWS. You just can't.

3/ Meanwhile web3 has spent 2 years getting buried. Rugs. Hype. Influencers. The usual clown show. But underneath all that noise, the actual infra got quietly, disgustingly good. zkproofs in production. L2s with real throughput. Onchain apps that don't feel like punishment.

2/ AI is incredible. Honestly. I'm not here to dunk on it. But you know what I noticed? Every serious AI lab is quietly obsessed with 1 unsolved problem: Who owns the output? Who controls the compute? Who decides what gets deployed? Centralization anxiety is real, even in SF.
