argo's @jaredrawk on Meta's latest headset: “We're in the Blackberry era of wearable mobile computing, with form & features driven by the enterprise. Don't be surprised if a controller with a keyboard shows up before we see consumer versions.” More here:.

Principal designer Guus Baggermans is one of argo’s most innovative thinkers and experimenters in AI, so you can imagine how much his brain has been whirring lately. For a talk he’s giving at UWV next week, he asked Midjourney for a robot visual in the style of The Office.

“I learned about process, patience, and possibilities—the seemingly infinite possibilities the new-new generative AI technologies suggest are just on the horizon. And I learned, truly, that everything is going to change. Even how we make movies.”.

“The process was addictive. Every step was a dice roll, but the trudge was ultimately a success. I did make a Mood Reel, and it’s OK, but more importantly, I learned a lot.”.

“From roughly 500 images, and 100 video clips, 28 found their way to the cut. Sometimes working with gen AI can feel like herding cats: the more you try to steer, the further you get from your destination. In this way, it might be exactly the wrong tool for this kind of project.”

“For a score I opted for Meta’s new text-to-music tool, MusicGen. The results ranged from kind-of-okay to sheer cacophony and took several minutes to generate each 15-second clip. I laboriously re-cut a meandering sample to a 30-second arc and began laying in video clips”

“I then processed the images with either Pika Labs or Runway’s Gen-2, both text-to-video tools with image-to-video functionality. This is the fun part, watching your creations come to life.”.

“I started with a story I’ve been kicking around for which I already had a Pinterest mood board. Using Midjourney’s /describe command, I used it to build a repertoire of phrases I then fed back into MidJourney to generate key scenes.”

A mood reel is an assembly of clips and sounds from existing movies or shows that might accompany a script or deck when pitching cinematic narratives. Traditionally a meticulous process, it seemed a good test for the latest generative AI tools.

It's friendly, but not too friendly. Fast, but not scary fast. Apollo was designed to be your new robot coworker, and it's leaving the sci-fi tropes behind.

3/It's not an either/or situation, it's a thoughtful consideration of buyer needs and desired experience, and a constant recalibration of how brands deliver on it.

2/ Grocery delivery and curbside pickup are still popular, ecommerce isn't going anywhere, social commerce is growing, and poorly executed brick and mortar still struggles to stand out and survive while innovative boutiques take their place.
