Recovering from #grub sure is fun, grub is such a hassle and over complicated junk, you have to have a masters in computer science to boot it with all these commands.. #linux #Youtuber #technology #bootloaders #junksoft

also adding a background image is a simple background command in the autoexec.ipxe file, not like grub, you practically have to download special github hacks to change your background images.

using ipxe is a great alternative to grub for netbooting, it is similar to syslinux in that all you need is the boot file ipxe.efi, like pxelinux.0 for syslinux, no grub nonsense when you want to change a menu item, changes take place in real time.

Getting this to work was fun, a week, it's alpine linux booting over the #network with persistence, by making a backup file and it loads it at boot from your http server, but runs entirely in memory on the diskless client. #tech #ipxe

Booting TinyCore Linux simultaneously from a linux pxe server to 3 thin clients at the same time with persistence, using syslinux PXE and a whole lot of time! #tinycore #linux #tech

There is quite a difference between windows and linux, it can truly be frustrating to run a program. Windows: GO (press enter) Linux: GO -l -now -display=vga --timezone:eastern -use screen --load mouse:ms1/port=default -(kernel init) --initrd load -int=crt

I use a wyse 5010 thin client as a slackware linux server for 30 bux on ebay and let me tell you it is flawless, been running 24x7 tftp, http, nfs, ssh, pxe, a vintage bbs over telnet, and much more for months now.

Does anyone remember Symantec Ghost? Ghost cloned your hard drive, decades ago, I remember it was revolutionary, you cloned a pc after setting it up for a classroom, then running a ghost multicast server cloning an entire classroom at once.

I personally like #mikrotik routers because they are loaded with features, and also support pxe next server options 66 and 67 for pxe booting. No need to run a seperate dhcp server on your linux server.

When you have multiple devices on a network and a linux server, you can centralize all of the logs to one location using the syslogd daemon if the device supports remote logging then running tail -f /var/log/messages on your linux server shows you all.

You can load a handful of linux live operating systems and browse the internet, etc with no history or saved data because it runs in memory and clears when rebooted, being diskless its a forensic nightmare lol, each reboot is a fresh start.

lets consider what is needed for this to work. 1) Syslinux configured with Menu options 2) TFTP server configured 3) NFS configured to share /tftpboot dir on linux server 4) HTTP server to fetch squashfs filesystems 5) DHCP server with option 66/67 enabled

One more of my music under the phenix briggs name, the studio underground, a digital dystopian society. With samples from the movie 'Sneakers', you should watch it. #music #dystopia #dictator

It was so much fun recreating from scratch the Doom dead simple level music, using only a yamaha keyboard and a fender telecaster guitar, yes I am also Phenix Briggs, music producer. https://t.co/O0nT9fn5gx

A menu item in the syslinux default config file is where the network boot options are defined. The DOS boot image you made, including the DOS menu, becomes a package of retro goodies you boot from any PC setting bios or UEFI to boot from network.
