Very cool work by @CecileTK_ that uses pairs of identical sequences to study fine scale transmission patterns of SARS-CoV-2 in WA state. This method can take full advantage of large pathogen genome datasets without needing to construct computationally intensive phylogenetic trees.
Pathogen genomes can provide insights into underlying disease transmssion patterns but new methods are needed to analyze large genome datasets. In our new preprint, we use identical pathogen sequences to characterize fine scale SARS-CoV-2 transmission:
