I buy 1 Bitcoin at $120,000. It drops to $85,000. I sell itβ¦ then buy it back seconds later. I still hold 1 Bitcoin, nothing changed there. But now Iβve realized a $35,000 capital loss for tax purposes. Same asset. Different outcome.
