You just don’t see this with the US or Canadian match processes which also use a ranking system, for some reason 🤷♀️ and yet in the UK it’s a yearly problem Like you might be unsuccessful but you know where you stand
Doctors received offers for Radiology training posts at around 3-4pm. They were able to accept these offers on Oriel and received confirmation of acceptance. Offers then began to disappear on Oriel. At 6:30pm they received this email. Simply unacceptable.

A month ago tomorrow I asked NHSE's press office how many graduating doctors had been left with an unallocated F1 position. I've heard it could be up to 1000 and some could only be told where they are going in July - less than a month before they are due to start work 1/2

Add to this the fact that many places won’t have hosp accommodation so even that safety net is missing - impossible if you can’t organise viewings/rental applications cross country
I'm told there are at least 450 final year med students who are yet to be allocated a F1 post to start in August. Much scrambling around to create jobs for them but some won't hear until July.
