"Oh, we're fine. My husband has been really sick, but he had a negative test a few days ago."
I stayed outside, and taught her how to do the 3-part swab.

Can you please post a tutorial link on the three part swab? I keep hearing about it being the correct method but am unsure of the details. If you have time to find a link that has the proper information, thanks. And if not I get it.

Just use the same swab, and swipe hard (for cells, not just mucus) the inside cheek, throat, and nose in that order, then complete the test.

I love the caveat every single time “ but we tested”. If they only know what us covid cautious are thinking when we hear that.

I know. I'm proud of myself-- I consciously didn't roll my eyes when she said that, and reminded myself to make this a learning opportunity.

🙈 1. Probably didn’t test correctly/serially as they should 2. Even if it’s not C, it cd be something else contagious 3. Lack of understanding asymptomatic spread 4. Regardless, enter a strangers house not good idea anyway, but you shd at least trust them on a deadly pathogen?

and people are feeling worse earlier with an infection, so while their body is saying "I FEEL AWFUL" the viral load has not yet increased to the level where the RAT will detect it.

I tested negative when I was sick a few weeks ago. I only did regular swab. What's the 3 part?

Using one swab, swipe the inside cheek, back of throat, then nose, making sure to swipe firmly enough to get cells, and not just mucus. Then complete the test as directed.

Me: have you tested for Covid?
Her: “no, I did those test things three times in the past, always negative, this is just a cold and I’ve got my bus trip to Nashville next week”.
