Conversation today with a former teacher, age 40:
"I had to quit my job teaching middle school math and English. Hundreds of unmasked mouth-breathers, and they wouldn't protect us. It wasn't worth the risk."

Annie, huge test, here in Oregon. No masks required in health care settings starting April 3.
Though I suspect many will wear fearing potential consequences.
By end of month something profound will arise ๐ท๐ง๐ค

A year ago, my daughter left employment in great Michigan, US, schools and doubled her salary the next week working for private practice as a speech language pathologist.

Yep, 40 this year. Quit teaching in 2020 when I saw how we were readily being prepped for slaughter. *All* my colleagues willingly walked towards the knife.

As a parent, I support any teacher who leaves the profession. I couldnโt imagine sending my children to unsafe schools and I certainly donโt regard teachers as human sacrifices to the illusion of normalcy.
I wish good things to every teacher seeking a better life.
