Definitely a more autumnal feel to the garden moth trap this morning (VC 32) after a cool cloudy night: 2 Barred Sallow, 1 Sallow, 1 Red-line Quaker (and 4 Beaded Chestnut) all nfy. White-point is having a bumper year, with 2 more including a fresh pink-hued specimen #UKmoths

Some highlights from a busy garden trap on 7 September: European Corn-borer, Old Lady, Brindled Green and Clifton Nonpareil (only my second garden record). 552 moths of 41 species overall (Pitsford, Northamptonshire, VC32).

Some pictures from a fine Bank Holiday walk around Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex. Golden Samphire 📸 and Sea Mayweed 📸 along the sea wall. A few Southern Migrant Hawkers were good to see, accompanied 12+ Migrant Hawkers and 1 Emperor Dragonfly.

A Leopard Moth at the garden MV moth trap on 2 July. 60 species overall was more like a normal total for the time of year, and 12 Hawk-moths of 4 species was notable.

Purple Emperors were out in force on Thursday 27 June in the Lady Wood section of Fermyn Woods, Northamptonshire with 15 seen well and supporting cast including 3 White Admiral, 5 Comma, 3 Red Admiral, Emperor Dragonflies, Beautiful Demoiselles, 2 Brown Hawker & 2 Ruddy Darter
