I’ll never understand why it is so difficult for the church to just acknowledge their mistakes, apologize, and make changes accordingly. Such acknowledgment would go such a long way with their own membership.

Also assuming that bishops - you know the local dentist who was called as bishop- are going to reliably be capable of convincing abusers to just turn themselves in. Absolutely astounding. Dangerous. Repugnant. I’m disgusted beyond adequate language.

I can’t believe Jasmin is actually advocating for bishops to be allowed to know of child SA cases and just… not say anything. The church had so thoroughly convinced members it can do no harm that this is a real take being shared with all seriousness. I’m legitimately stunned.

As much as I take issue with how members of the church can sometimes treat those of us that leave I just gotta say- it doesn’t hold a candle to how obnoxious anti-Mormon evangelicals are screaming at members that they’re “not Christian.”. Seriously the worst. The WORST.

Ran my first ever sub 20 minute 5k today! Ran a 19:08. Crazy how much you can improve with consistent training over the years. A couple years ago I could barely run a 10 minute mile. Go chase your dreams people!

Church was really engaging today

This sentiment Jackson shares here would carry more weight if LDS General Authorities themselves wouldn’t mock other believers for the way they worship 🤷‍♂️

The sad truth is the church doesn’t have actual space for people who don’t believe. You can go, sure! The people will be nice if they’re living their faith. You’ll be able to find community still to some degree: but you will always be second class to a true believing member.

Still though- the harsh reality is if you don’t believe you’re a second class citizen. You won’t be trusted with callings typically, be called on to speak, be allowed in the temple, even be able to see your own kid married potentially. Etc etc.

Firstly, I feel very welcome in my ward. They know where I’m at. I actually really enjoy going many weeks if not just to see friends I love. I have a really good friendship with the bishop and even go on runs with him regularly. I’m doing my best to be a good person- so are they.
