DT Byron Cowart was taken back to the facility in front seat of a cart early in practice. Not sure what happened. Jets already banged up w TE Mason Taylor (ankle), QB Tyrod Taylor (knee), LG John Simpson (back), and DT Quinnen Williams (calf) among those not practicing. #Jets.

A couple of notable injuries: Special teams standout Kris Boyd left on cart w shoulder injury. WR Xavier Gipson hurt his shoulder in red zone team drills. Glenn wrapped up practice earlier than planned, after Gipson injury. Didn’t really explain why other than saying it was time.

On D, Will McDonald continues to impress. Had at least one sack (probably should have been 2 but they let play continue). Clemons and Cowart added sacks, too. And Quincy Williams got to Fields on a lightning fast blitz. Brandon Stephens had a good day, including a jumping PBU.

Glenn said he was happy w running backs. Isaiah Davis was the standout: lowered the shoulder at the end of a long run to pick up some extra yardage, also caught a deep ball down the sideline in tight coverage. Breece Hall made a bunch of plays in red zone.

Jets Green & White (scrimmage-heavy) practice is in the books, and it was a pretty ugly overall. Cleaning up penalties has been a key focus, but it didn’t show: 12 combined flags during team drills. Defense shut down the passing game, but run game was solid. A few highlights:.

Justin Fields is wearing a protective plastic cover over his right cleat after last week’s dislocated toe. “Almost like a steel toe.” Said he’s pretty much back to full speed after his second full practice back. Had a key 10 yard scramble on TD drive to end practice. #Jets

Glenn said the Jets are bringing in Nick Folk to compete for the starting kicking job after yesterday’s tryout. #Jets.

Aaron Glenn said RB Braelon Allen is dealing with some “knee soreness” which is why he didn’t practice today. With an off day tomorrow they wanted to give him an extra off day and will reevaluate before Thursday’s practice. #Jets.

Justin Fields is back for 11-on-11 team drills for the first time since Thursday’s injury scare. His first pass was batted down at the line. #Jets.

Aaron Glenn says it’s a “toe injury on the right side” for Justin Fields: “I don’t know the severity.” He notes they have confidence in Tyrod Taylor. Says if Fields is out a significant amount of time there’s “no drop off” in what the offense can do with Taylor. #Jets.

Justin Fields just took the cart back to the facility (in the passenger seat), got off, and walked into the building after limping off the field during team drills.

Garrett Wilson on if he’s hopeful he gets a new contract before the season: “I’m hopeful I’m a Jet for life.”

Quinnen Williams said his social media post expressing frustration after Jets decided to cut Aaron Rodgers “was definitely an immature thing for me to do in that moment.” Said he’s talked about it “a lot” with Glenn and Mougey, he learned from it, & believes in the new regime.
