When working with language learners it is important to use their use of their home language to build trust and not “discipline”. In this video I don’t tell the boys to 🛑 speaking Spanish, I use the English words and then ask them the Spanish word. I also asked my friend to count

We have dabbled with the coding having them drive sphero over a bridge of their own design and build. Next week they will use them to paint! They are obsessed with @SpheroEdu !.

In prep for a lesson next week. And you hear a kid saying, “Violet”…that is the angel she gave her Sphero.

Kinder & 1st graders learned what an Architect does by reading, “Iggy Peck Architect” and showing off their building skills with Keva Planks. Next week they will use that knowledge in a bridge challenge.

Stem adventures 🎡 Students read the book, “Mr. Ferris & his Wheel”, which tells the story of the design and build of the first Ferris Wheel for the World’s Fair. Then using Lego Spike kits from @LEGO_Education, students built and coded Ferris Wheels. ❤️ @VBTitleI

More STEM fun! Students learned about the science behind ziplines and then created their own zipline racers. The challenge: Get a "rider" (ping pong ball) from start to finish in 4 seconds (or less safely). SO MANY REDESIGNS! @VBTitleI

STEM Adventures: Everyday students are using @BookCreatorApp to reflect on their learning! This will leave students with a record of their challenges and victories during summer ☀️ learning. I ❤️ that they are so excited to reflect and they loved using speech to text! @VBTitleI

STEM Adventures: Students read about William Kamkwamba in the story, “The Boy who Harnessed the Wind”, and how he brought wind energy to his village in Africa. Students then used Lego Spike kits from @LEGO_Education to build windmills. They used wind energy to turn on a light 💡

🚗 SLC STEM Class: 4th & 5th grade students used the Design Process to create and test balloon cars. Don't mind the cardboard box/trash can lanes they create for the test "track". @VBTitleI
