Anyways worth noting that making fun of ADHD is *definitely* ableist, and a lot of other mental health/neurological conditions often get written off as ADHD—especially among Black kids— and becomes a justification for the school to prison-to-prison pipeline.

The thing about this is that a lot of advice (academic or not) is unsolicited. Most people don’t want or need advice, they need space, care, kindness and things our neoliberalism doesn’t grant us. Advice is about navigating what exists, not imagining something different.

It’s a lot to ask your partner to keep following you whereever your academic career takes you, but the prospect of interminable long distance relationships is deeply heartbreaking as well

fellowship rejections i have received: nsf grfp wenner gren nsf ddrig ruth landes ford foundation x 2 (they don’t award south asian americans, idk why i bothered) acls dissertation penn predoctoral diversity x3 (2/3 in the top 10) lewis and clark x2 tons of others
