Why are we cheering this on? We are trying to escape the dollar with Bitcoin, not move the dollar on chain where it can be easily tracked, frozen, or programmed!. Crypto today does not resemble the movement I joined years ago. This is embarrassing!.

The entire crypto space used to have the goal of replacing fiat, or at least having a decentralized alternative to the dollar. Today, the entire crypto space is cheering on the goal of "securing dollar dominance.".
President Trump's Director of Digital Assets says passing the crypto Genius Act means the U.S. is "securing dollar dominance and unlocking innovation.".

Privacy coin advocates are drooling at the thought of the government taxing remittances. Can you imagine the gains we'd see? $ARRR $XMR $ZANO $ZEC.
If we really wanted to incentivize self-deportations we would institute an outright ban on remittances. We cannot allow immigrants to loot public benefits, paid for with our tax dollars, while they send money back to their own country. We are not an economic zone to be plundered.
