It’s been an absolute whirlwind so far so time to heal and process it all is much needed but I feel it’s important to share my story, even if it only gets one person to check their 💩 and go to the GP because something isn’t quite right for them. Because honestly… 6/7

to be honest, I was just lucky (and thankful) that I got a GP who didn’t turn me away regardless of my age, subtle symptoms and the fact that I’m not a walking red flag for bowel cancer. Also the fact that he really didn’t think that I’d be facing cancer but here I am! 5/7

My consultant said that surgery is often the ‘gold standard treatment’ for early bowel cancer so the hope is that no further treatment will be needed 🤞but will know more when results are back. He also said well done for getting it checked out but… 4/7

and on 15th Nov I was diagnosed with early bowel cancer. I’m 40! Less than 4wks since my diagnosis and before having time to process the news, I had bowel resection surgery to remove my sigmoid colon and I’m now awaiting the biopsy result to know the exact stage. 3/7

Mid Oct I visited the GP following a few days (that I know of) of very subtle symptoms and whilst I don’t tick any of the risk factor boxes and GP didn’t think it was anything sinister, he investigated anyway. A positive FIT Test and fast track colonoscopy followed… 2/7
