One of the best things I took away from that summer was the spirit of "ubuntu," which loosely translates to "I Am Because We Are." It's probably something we could all do with remembering at this time. END //

I wanted to share these stories because South Africa is trending this week. And it continues to have a place in my heart. I eventually did become that lawyer. And I have been so impressed by the advocate team arguing the case before the ICJ.

After I graduated, I returned to Cape Town in 2012. I saw many of my old friends again. And, of course, the work of @amybiehl providing children and youth programs for young people from disadvantaged communities continues.

In 2010, I met Linda Biehl in New Mexico. We walked around art galleries in Santa Fe. She shared stories with me about Amy and why the work of @amybiehl was so important to her. That was a full-circle moment.

After the service, he invited the 6 of us who attended to breakfast He shared stories of his life as a freedom fighter and told us about his dreams for South Africa The date was 26 June 2009. I know this because it was the day I learned that MJ had died And I had hair

Probably one of the most memorable parts of that summer was attending the service at 5:30am on a Friday at St George's Cathedral in Cape Town. That particular weekly service was conducted by the Archbishop of Cape Town. Who, in 2009, was the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

No doubt, his autobiography further inspired me to pursue this career. It helped me understand that our legal systems have limitations. Ethics and professional obligations matter. Being an advocate is a privilege.
