Jimmy Lai is a prisoner of conscience. His prosecution is motivated solely by him exercising his right to freedom of expression and his commitment to press freedom. The Hong Kong authorities must release Lai immediately and unconditionally and drop all charges against him. 4/4.

The “evidence” cited included Lai’s proposal that human rights issues be made conditions in international trade negotiations, and that by calling the CCP the “enemy of the world,” Lai was implying it should be punished, thereby indirectly seeking foreign sanctions. 3/4.
