SC expresses concern over prisoners languishing in jail even after completing the sentence and directs that all convicts who have served the sentence of fixed jail term be released forthwith.
SC rules that a convict, sentenced to life imprisonment for a fixed term like 20 years, is entitled to be released from jail after completing the term and there is no need for remission of sentence in such cases which is needed in simple life imprisonment.
