How much would ultimate mean to you if your identities were constantly questioned, scrutinized, belittled, or erased? How much would ultimate mean to you if you didn't have the support networks you rely on? 6/

If you think that this doesn't affect you because you A) aren't trans or B) don't live in Texas, I really want you to lean into this conversation and read this thread. I am not calling you out, I am calling you in. 1/12

Greg Abbot has officially directed Family and Protective Services to begin investigating all trans children in Texas and prosecuting their parents as child abusers. He has also instructed all teachers, doctors, and caregivers to begin reporting any trans students they see.

With all of the news that has been going around regarding trans women and our inclusion in women's sports, combined with Texas actively attacking the identities and existence of trans youth, 2/

I ask you all in the ultimate community to reflect on what this sport gives you. What your club teams, your college captains, your league friends, or your pickup buddies provide you. 3/

Does ultimate provide you a sense of belonging. Does this community give you a place where you feel comfortable to be yourself? Does it support your physical and mental pursuits? If so, when did that feeling originally come to you? 4/

I want you to consider how much ultimate, how much being supported, having a safe space, and feeling a sense of belonging, would mean to you if you have been told at every step of the way that you don't belong. 5/

This lack of belonging is what the trans community faces on a daily basis. While the situation in Texas and our inclusion in women's sports are two separate issues, they do not exist in a bubble. 7/

People in my community are actively being told that they do not matter, that they do not exist, and that by existing that they are taking away the rights of others. This is incredibly damaging to all people, but especially to the youngest in our community. 8/

For me personally, I have a club team, a college team, and multiple league communities that outwardly support me. Even still, I am actively terrified that at any minute this sport I love will be taken away from me. 9/

The issue is not just that fear though, but also the fear that by existing in spaces normally reserved for cis women that I am actively taking away opportunities, reducing fairness, and infringing on other people's ability to compete. 10/

This is the outcome of hateful actions like this Texas Bill. All people of that identity feel the effects of that statement, and they feel that pain even if the direct impacts haven't reached them yet. 11/

So I am calling you in to consider the space you take up and to actively support those who need a sense of belonging the most. We may have an insular community, but our trans community members are not shielded from the outside world, and it's time we acted like it. 12/12
