Boston
Joined March 2014
This morning I presented at the #ACTFL25 Trauma-informed work begins with acknowledging the gap between what humans need versus what our structures provide. We can create small pockets of interaction that model the culture we want to see and support every learner.

That's a wrap! Back to school today after the state-level World Language Teachers' Conference #MAFLA25 this past weekend where I presented a session on formative assessments and had a chance to connect & learn from colleagues.

I’ve come to appreciate the breadth of #traumainformedteaching in its implications and potential for our work in the World Language classroom through having these conversations with colleagues. Thank you for the opportunity to share! @ACTFL #ACTFL24

"Teachers are natural healers, even if they haven't used that exact word to self-identify. They want to help make their students laugh, love their students, help them be better humans, and see them reach their goals. These are all healing actions." @froehlichm

After a formative writing, Ss wrote peer feedback on post-it notes, which we saved, and then they stuck them to their summative assessments as a reminder of how to improve. Idea from @MmeBlouwolff #langchat

Hats off to @Travers_Tweets for his #ACTFL22 presentation on gradual release of responsibility. Warm, witty, and deeply steeped in T&L, it was a joy to learn from him today at “Who’s Doing the Heavy Lifting?”

Keynote Chef José Andrés expresses love through food & building “longer tables,” work made possible by using languages. He’s in Ukraine feeding people; as a speaker of Spanish, Catalan, and French, he addresses us in English, one of his non-native languages. #joseandres #ACTFL22
