There are two large mud-pits in the backyard. The one pictured is the smaller of the two. When we first moved here, there were a series of heavy rain days, and then a snow, and Ziggy was new to this "back yard" concept: She took advantage of the dirty holes.

Anyway, it's been over a week with the mud holes looking like the first picture now and we have had no muddy paw prints inside during that time. She's a smart girl, and it's been lovely being back at our "open door policy". We are both happier this way :)

"Okay, she just can't be outside without me watching, that's the new plan.", I thought. I would tell her "no mud" every time she got near it or in it. I expanded to having an open door, but staying within ear shot. Anytime I heard that God forsaken sloshing sound I'd come running

I immediately had to purchase extra towels. And for a while they were in a constant rotation of ziggy->washer->dryer->Ziggy. Sometimes I wouldn't even get them to the dryer before she stomped into the house while covered in mud. This was all very unsustainable, as you can imagine

Exhibit 428 in "a dog is basically a wife": She's been in heat the last couple days, has been intermittently growling at me, and yet I still choose to annoy her purposefully any moment I get.

Odd that I haven't been manic-posting as of recent. Guess my creative juices have been flowing elsewhere.

You don't know how early you really are until later. An interesting reflection. One I suspect will repeat many times in my future.
