So I think that’s why this trend needles at me so much. The process can be heartbreaking (and often is ngl) but that’s also the whole point. Without it you’re just making pretty pictures.

When you actually get to launch a brand that the client loves, that will last, that captures their personality and furthers their goals, AND it matches your personal taste to boot?? Literal magic.

Graphic design is a service industry, 80% of our job is wrangling people. You convince people to trust you, learn as much as you can about what they do and love and hope to achieve, understand their taste and the taste of their audience. That’s what I love about it!

I think I’m particularly bitter about the logo redesign trend because that process is by far the hardest thing I do on a regular basis. It’s basically group therapy! It’s full of potential hurdles and pitfalls, but when it eventually comes together it’s extremely satisfying.

The real life process of getting something halfway resembling your initial vision over the finish line is the hard part, not making a clever mark and some mockups

“Fixing” logos as design content is so annoying, like yeah no shit it’s easy to rip one off when you’re making up your own brief that has nothing to do with the actual goals of the organization and don’t have to get the buy in of dozens of people

Can’t wait to be extremely annoyed about the fallout from this for the foreseeable future
