Having fun at #GI2025 and happy to see people full of the room snapping their finger together - yes, we can snap! Always love to work with @nonsequitoria on such simple and cool idea. Check out our paper to find out different ways to snap for interaction. https://t.co/ZElTpIiBA1

Foldable clamshell phones fit a larger screen in your pocket, but is that all folding is good for? π€ Our #chi2024 paper explores new ways to use 1-handed folding for input. π€π± Part provocation for limits of hand dexterity interaction, part practical idea.
Let's bring back the glory of flip phones! At #CHI2024, I'll present our work "Single-handed Folding Interactions with a Modified Clamshell Flip Phone", in collaboration with @antonyalbertra2 and @nonsequitoria from @ExiiUW. (1/3)

Our results showed that single-handed folds can be utilized to interact with modern flip phones. Join me on May 15 in the "Hand Interaction" session and see these new examples of deformable gestures as physical phone interactions.π±(3/3) https://t.co/9dirWImDna

In this paper, we investigated single-handed folding interactions which combine folding and touching gestures. To better understand the input space, we created a flip phone prototype with a hinge and spring system, which represents our imagination of future flip phones. (2/3)

My pleasure to work with @nikhitajoshi & @nonsequitoria on this #CHI2024 honourable mention paper which addresses my personal needs. Writing in synchronized shared-editors could be uncomfortable when writers are not ready to share, and editors should accommodate the need. (1/2)
Next, @allenshock, @nonsequitoria, & I from @ExiiUW, @uwhci, & @UWCheritonCS propose alternative update strategies in document readers that manipulate when and how updates are shown to collaborators to improve writer comfort. π¨βπ»β±οΈπ©βπ» Details here: https://t.co/b1zDDJEvYf

In this paper, we identify and evaluate single-handed "dexterous gestures" for physical phone manipulation, and demonstrate how they can be used in smartphone applications. Our exploration shows that human dexterity can be harnessed for new forms of phone interaction. (2/3)
