NSW is the only Australian State (or Territory) with less than 30% women councillors. In Victoria 43.8% of councillors are women - come on NSW! #ItsTime #EnoughIsEnough @algwa_sa @ALGWA_WA @LiciaHeath
Nominations are now open for NSW Council elections. Australia’s most populous state has the lowest percentage of women councillors #ItsTime to change! @Cass_Coleman @SalibaSaliba @CrWheatland @ausgenderequal @CoraltRoss @ALGWAVIC @hula_grl @WomenElectionOz

Essential and sobering reading for anyone in corporate Australia. The trend is dismaying. We must do better. @ausgenderequal @TerryFitz1815 @CoraltRoss #timefortargets #genderequality
The @CEWAus Senior Executive Census found 18 women CEOs in ASX300 companies and only 10 in ASX200 companies (down from 14 in 2018). It’s #timefortargets for #womenleaders. #leadership #CEO #CFO #ASX. Read the 2021 report: https://t.co/n0FybgkZO4

Wouldn’t this pledge for all candidates raise the bar and encourage more women to stand for local government? @Algwanational @algwa_sa

A north-eastern council is shutting down roads to give families a chance to get outside and play, and get to know their neighbours. @9keziahsullivan #9News

Well said - it’s what we do!
Local governments are here to help, and if the Prime Minister and Premiers allowed us on National Cabinet, we could. Councils own buildings in every corner of Australia, from town halls, to baby vaccination clinics, childcare centres, youth facilities and even aged care.

Working together makes a real difference. The @algwa_sa & @LGAofSA worked together to encourage women to stand at the last election. @algwa_sa ran sessions in city and country on what to expect and available supports with a record result for women.
"There has been a tipping point," says Women for Election CEO @LiciaHeath in today's @GuardianAus "Women mobilise when they realise no one is coming to save them. And women are thinking, ‘I’ll just have to bloody well do it.’” @SallyCDillon @hula_grl

Great result! And it is worth remembering that women were 39% of candidates yet are now 43.4% of councillors - imagine if the women who did not put up their hand because of COVID stood @ALGWAVIC @Algwanational @jesskatedavis

And I believe @KnoxCC has the highest percentage of women on any Australian council with 88% - beating Shire of Dundas 83% (WA). Figures for other States now WA 38.8% (half election last October), Qld 37% (election in March) and NT 33% - rest same @MayneReport @Algwanational
