If you’re looking for a break from all the general misery, @john_vassiliou1 and I gave the whole “humour” thing a go and wrote a satirical Home Office dictionary:

I really want to spread awareness of this ridiculous Home Office requirement that doesn’t get enough coverage in the hopes that it will finally be scrapped since even the Home Office probably doesn’t want it so please RT widely!

I know this is a long shot and the quality of the photos is terrible but does anyone know what these red and blue lights far away from my balcony might be? I swear they weren’t there when I moved in. They’re very tall? They don’t flash? They have an industrial feel to them?

Delighted to be ranked by Chambers in Immigration. Tom Giles, a partner, and Alex Piletska, an “associate to watch” for the third year in a row, both ranked in Immigration. Laura Coyle, a partner, is also ranked in Social Housing. https://t.co/15bD7NNQKo

GUYS YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS “What do you want to replace the European Convention on Human Rights with?” “Good old domestic legislation… like the Human Rights Act 1998. It’s pretty good.”

This 600-year-old painting is one of the most mysterious in history. That mirror at the back is just 3 inches wide — yet it reflects the entire room in immense detail. Look closer at it and you'll realize nothing is as it seems… (thread) 🧵

This has been enabled by years of politicians pumping out hate against “lefty lawyers”, spreading the message that there is something wicked and shameful in representing individuals against the state.
They have been posting addresses of pro migrant law firms and institutions that deal with migration matters in general onto telegram groups

So much about the immigration and asylum system is just completely unknown to people day to day. Some examples:

It is regrettable that whoever wrote this thread did so in apparent ignorance of what the law actually says. It is really rather wildly misleading. [THREAD 🧵]
THE SMASHED WINDOW DILEMMA A person smashes a car window, causing the car alarm to go off and creating a public scene. The police quickly arrive and arrest the person. During the arrest, the person tries to explain their motive for breaking the window. 🧵 1/9

A very interesting and thought-provoking piece by @adamhpking on the safety of Lucy Letby’s convictions.
The Lucy Letby case is extraordinary for its evidential shape as much as its notoriety. I think it might well have been a miscarriage of justice. My piece in @unherd, taking in the Court of Appeal judgment and other recent developments.

1041 days since the Taliban BANNED girls from school. Afghanistan is the ONLY country in the world where girls are barred from school & university. Day by day passes and women & girls are denied their basic human rights. Your silence makes you complicit. https://t.co/gUatTQsQFA

This isn’t some weird form of modern art. I just need to send this video, which is apparently massive in size, to my dishwasher technician and this was the quickest (though by no means the most elegant) way of doing so.

Important read. Just a shame the Home Office couldn’t have figured this out three months ago.

Decisions by immigration officers to admit people to the UK, even if on dubious legal grounds, do in fact mean those people have the right to live here, Court of Appeal holds https://t.co/4pEt2si6ao

I posted this in 2022. I think this is unlikely to happen because I have a feeling Labour won’t want to burn valuable political capital on what might feel like a niche issue. But that doesn’t change the fact that this is the right thing to do.
One of the first things Labour should do when they take power is change the Adult Dependent Relative rules that make it virtually impossible for elderly family members to spend their final years with their British family in the UK. RT if you agree.
