For last week’s High Sierra mission I joined Jordan Cannon on Trapezoid Peak to climb the route Shield of Dream, a really beautiful 5 pitch 5.13b put up by Andy Puhvel and Chase Leary. I didn’t get any photos of the climbing (it was great, really nice rock) but I took a bunch

Sanni and I loved this video by Magnus Midtbø and Janja Garnbret - SO impressive. So inspiring.

This week I got to interview Hamish McArthur for Climbing Gold. One of the interesting nuggets was that he said one of his gifts as a climber (besides being the first person to climb V17 in a session…) was his ability to quickly assess and learn from his movement. It inspired me

For last week’s Hulk mission I rallied the one and only @tommycaldwell1 to try Nalazak, an amazing 5.13+ corner a few pitches up the wall. It was originally freed by my friends Jake Whittaker and Lucho Rivera but I don’t think it’s seen a second ascent in the 14 years since they

Mt Rainier!! Turns out it’s a really big mountain. Since I was just in WA for a family wedding my cousin Erik asked me to climb Rainier with him. The weather seemed somewhat so so (it was hard to tell that we made it to the top because visibility was so low) but the clouds

Last weekend I went up to Washington for a family wedding and managed to sneak out for a little morning climb with my brother in law Jason. I’d always wanted to check out Mt Erie because one of my friends (Chris Weidner) had freed a supposed hard route there a long time ago (Wild

I’ve had two good missions to the Hulk with Jordan the last two weeks - we did two of the newer routes on the north side: Green Thunder (5 pitch 13b) and Up in Smoke (6 pitch 13a). It’s been a fruitful partnership - Jordan has gone up ahead of time and worked the routes a bit

Same beach, 5 years apart: life sure happens fast sometimes! Sanni and I got married 5 years ago, fun to be back at the same beach with 2 little imps.

I recently climbed this wildly overhanging crack outside of Tahoe - it’s supposedly 5.13d (8b) but @tommycaldwell1 and I spent 3 days sessioning on it with very limited success. The bouldery style of the climbing made it hard to place gear and the jamming was initially super

This summer I’ve been aspiring to climb the Incredible Hulk once a week or so - we’re staying in Tahoe so it makes for a nice big day mission to drive down the East Side, hike into the mountains, climb an inspiring new route and then drive home. These photos are from my first

Happy birthday to Sanni!! We’ve been together for 10 years now and have two wonderful babies - life has changed so much but in some ways not at all. The pics are from recent adventures in the last two weeks around Tahoe. Backpacking with the kids last week and a really scenic

My friend James Lucas took this assortment of photos during a fun day of sport climbing in Tahoe the other day. It was technically a date day with Sanni so she could try an old project but there was a new route on the wall for me to try as well, so everyone had a nice time. And

This is a video of me climbing Fractal Universe (5.13a R) in Sedona. It was the only trad route at an otherwise entirely bolted crag and it was decidedly heads up - soft rock and exciting gear. Earlier this winter I posted something about a route in Red Rock that I thought

My longtime friend @cedarwright has founded the Dirtbag Fund - he’s giving small grants to dirtbag climbers who are living their dream. You can apply or donate at Cedar and I have had tons of adventures around the world (photos range from big walls in

The @honnoldfound’s latest Impact Report is out, and, as always, I’m pretty psyched to see how much of an effect our work has had around the world this past year. Since 2019, we’ve launched 97 projects serving more than 225,000 people across 275 communities. The impacts are

Red Rock has been a huge part of my life for years, and living in Las Vegas means I’ve seen firsthand how it has grown in popularity. It’s amazing to see so many people discovering climbing. But that growth creates some serious challenges for places like Red Rock or Indian

Hard to believe but today marks the 8 year anniversary of free soloing el cap! Time flies. I’m still so grateful to the whole team for working on the climb with me and documenting it in the film. It was such an all star crew and such a great adventure (though obviously stressful

I’ve spent the last month at home in Vegas projecting a hard sport route at a local sport crag (in between parenting and work travel - there’s been a lot of real life mixed in!). When I started working on the route I thought it was maybe the hardest thing that I’ve tried, but now
