Very excited to announce our public launch. We need to buy ourselves more time to decarbonize the rest of the economy, electrify the grid, scale DAC, etc. And the best way to do this is to make cows more efficient.

We've spent the past year and a half developing a feed additive that stops this process, preventing the release of methane, and allowing cows to actually utilize that energy. This is not only good for the planet, but also good for farmers.

The single largest source of anthropogenic methane is enteric methane, or cow burps. This is a weird (and avoidable) quirk of the ruminant digestion process. In the animals first stomach, methanogens hijack energy and turn it into methane.

If we were to eliminate a big chunk (say, 30%) of anthropogenic methane emissions tomorrow, we would prevent half of all new warming for the next 25 years. Imagine what we could do with that time!.

CO2 levels in the atmosphere are very hard to lower. It's like a bucket we keep filling. CH4 on the other hand is like a bucket with a hole in the bottom. If we just stop adding new methane, we'll get a net decrease in atmospheric concentration.

This means that it has an outsized effect on our near-term warming trajectory (I've heard scientists say that CO2 levels determines what temperature the planet will end up at, and CH4 determines how fast we get there).

Why cow burps are the most important thing in climate right now:. Methane is fundamentally different than CO2. While in the atmosphere, it's about 100x more potent. However, it breaks down after about 12 years. .
