Not hype. Not speculation. Just the possibility of ownership, access, and dignity. What would it take to make that real?.

In a world of inflation, exclusion, and limited access to opportunity, Bitcoin isn’t just a technology, it can be a tool for economic self-determination. But only if it reaches communities like Comuna 13 with care, context, and respect.

Why do I think about Bitcoin here?.Because if cultural healing is possible in places like this… why not financial healing too?.

Today, Comuna 13 is a living gallery. Tourists come to see the transformation. But locals know it’s not about the murals,  it’s about dignity. Because dignity is the opposite of fear.

But something remarkable happened. Residents didn’t reclaim their streets with force, they did it with art, music, and memory. Graffiti. Hip-hop. Dance. Storytelling. A generation turned pain into collective healing.

In 2002, over 1,000 troops stormed the neighborhood in a government offensive to root out guerrilla forces. The result: hundreds killed, disappeared, or detained. Thousands displaced. Paramilitary groups filled the vacuum. Trauma persisted.

Once Colombia’s most dangerous neighborhood, ruled by armed groups, scarred by military violence, and abandoned by the state. But that’s not the full story.

I think about Bitcoin in places like Comuna 13, Medellín 🇨🇴.Not as a trend, but as a question of access. What does financial dignity mean in a community that’s already reclaimed its cultural voice? 🧵
