Update: Following a big organizing effort, the Urban Design Panel and city staff recommended the developer resubmit their proposal for the tower that would displace Joyce-Collingwood's Filipino businesses. That was over 3 years ago. The city considers the application dormant.
With SkyTrain and St. Mary's, Vancouver's Filipino community at Joyce is a perfect place to grab food, attend mass, send money home. A rezoning puts it at risk. Biz owners don't mind density, just displacement. "This is where our kapabayan are." @TheTyee
