Does it get more Alaskan than this? Alaska State Troopers in Tok recently helped briefly shut down the Alaska Highway after a small plane made an emergency landing on the highway. No one was injured in the incident, and the plane was able to take off a short time later.

In memoriam: On this day in 1978, First Sergeant Walt Zahn died of a heart attack while conducting a prisoner transport from Seattle to Fairbanks, Alaska. First Sergeant Zahn first joined the Troopers in 1961. He was 51 years old at the time of his death.

In memoriam: On this day in 1986, VPSO Ronald Eugene Zimin Sr. was ambushed while investigating a domestic assault call. He was 36 years old, and the first Village Public Safety Officer killed in the line of duty.
