Continuity of care in long-term care settings can be more challenging than you think. Madeline King, a @Telfer_uOttawa alumni, published her thesis work exploring how goal-oriented care can support care continuity in LTC. @TelferResearch @Dr_SteeleGray

@FlairAirlines, on the other hand, was great about masking messages and enforcement. Thanks!

Flew from Halifax to Ottawa today and was disappointed with how poorly @WestJet enforced masking. In other words, they didn’t. So many people with masks pulled down under their chins and flight attendants said nothing.

What is more fun than writing REB applications on a Friday night? Knowing that next Friday I'll be on vacation! Anyone else work weekends before/after time off? Finding balance is hard!

Turning a class assignment into a published paper is a challenging task! Very rewarding and I'm thrilled to see it published. Written with Ali Coates (@rurallyAli) and Jenna Evans from McMaster University.
TelferNation PhD candidates @AndrewScarffe & Alison Coates challenge the assumed relationship between centralization and innovation in a recently published paper as part of a course with Prof. @agrudniewicz. 📖 Learn more about this paper 👉 https://t.co/KRf6fAPbmX

This is so sad. This small town’s ER was closed for the weekend due to staffing shortages— she lives 1 min away — nearest hospital was Kamloops, 50 minutes away. So much for rural equity.

The hospital's emergency department was closed over the weekend due to a staffing shortage, and the community's ambulance was already out on another call.

I heard on CBC about the upcoming expansion of prescribing for ON pharmacists (great comments @LisaDolovich) Will pharmacists be billing OHIP or the pt for this? Right now pharmacy charges me $35 for a prescription renewal. Shouldn't this be part of our universal health system?

2/2 - it is important to remember that in Ontario the government underspent by $1.8B on healthcare last year - specifically reducing budget for hospital operations- amazing what happens when you underfund a system- source:
cbc.ca
A report by the Financial Accountability Office found the province spent $7.2 billion less than it budgeted for in the last fiscal year and could have a deficit $5.4 billion smaller than planned.

Am told that The Ottawa Hospital ER is facing unprecedented challenge and overcrowding and that ER patients are being transferred out if possible and any new transfers in (including direct to service) need to be formally approved by their senior medical consultant personally.

Got my 4th Covid vaccine dose in Ontario. Why? I'm 6 months from last one and don't expect the upgraded vaccine to be avail to me until December or late fall. Am travelling in August too so appreciate the extra antibodies now. Plus it's available!
