Still in shock to have picked up this Nightjar flying northwards low over the sea off Balbriggan, Co. Dublin just after 9pm tonight. Poor quality clip due to distance, with full mag on scope and phone. Very rare bird in Ireland. County and apartment tick. @BWIFingal

Nice short visit to Tory Island this weekend produced 2 unexpected big ‘Greenland’ Redpolls. Normally only see them on autumn visits here. I see that St. Kilda has had them in June in the past. Lots of Tree Sprws. & calling Corncrakes. Lucky with this Cc which sat up on a wall!

A few highlights from Tacumshin lake and nearby, Co. Wexford today. White Stork, Little Gull (1 of 5), Curlew Sandpiper with Dunlin and male Garganey. Other highlights included 2 Avocets, 5 Cattle Egrets and a Marsh Harrier. Yesterday added Bee-eater and Spoonbill.

Amazing weekend in Wexford,finding this Purple Heron @ Tacumshin on Saturday & finally getting a few shots of it on Sun. morning. While waiting to see the Heron again on Sat. this Blue-winged Teal flew in & stayed a few minutes. Probably the bird last seen here over 2 weeks ago.

Was lucky this evening when this fabulous Waxwing came down to eye level to feed in a small fruiting tree in a front garden at Willow Park Avenue, Glasnevin, Dublin. Great find yesterday by @Victor_Caschera .They have been extremely scarce in Ireland this winter.

Great day on Brownstown Head,Co. Waterford today with 2 different male Bluethroats found by @Watbirder1 .The first spring birds I’ve seen in Ireland. Saw 2 Hoopoes as well on the Head. 1st. Wn. Common Crane showed well on the way home near Goresbridge, Co. Kilkenny.
